Artist's Description

This painting is a play on words, these are Hopi Maidens at one of my favorite hiking spots, Maiden Pools in the Catalina Mountains in Tucson AZ. The Hopis frequented these mountains for gathering water and grinding their Mez (corn), you can still find the bowls they carved in the living rock for this purpose.

About Christine Lytwynczuk

Christine Lytwynczuk

Thank you for visiting my site! I am a Tucson AZ based artist. I work mostly in oils and acrylics, my favorite method is to combine the two, using acrylics for my under painting and finishing in oils. I enjoy painting all subject matter, but whatever I paint I want people to be able to make an emotional or deep connection to the work. I desire to create a feeling of empathy and connection to others and a feeling of hope and comfort in the world we live in. I offer classes and workshops year round, if you are interested in attending, please check out: http://www.ideaartstudios.com
